Impakt Studio presents Digital Griot:
Visual Storytelling through filmmaking Course at Freedom Home Academy
Griot: A West African storyteller, singer, musician, and oral historian. They train to excel as orators, lyricists, and musicians.
The power of digital media is undeniable. It has the power to incite, inspire, and ignite from social media to movies and TV shows. The tools to create dynamic stories are more accessible than ever with the availability of cell phones being able to produce high-quality images in a small affordable package. This course will focus on the fundamentals of filmmaking that can directly translate to any size production no matter how big or small. We will also cover African and African American filmmakers and their contributions to cinema.
Students will get project based hands-on training with professional filmmaking tools from cinema cameras, lenses, lighting and sound equipment, and more. They will also get a chance to visit our film production studio (Ace Universal Group) and have industry professionals speak with them about what they do.
The class will culminate with a short film project produced by the students.
